With over 35 years of experience in the industry, Smith is a highly respected and accomplished professional with a deep understanding of operational transformation, profitable growth strategies, innovation, and technology.
In the property and casualty insurance industry, Smith has been instrumental in various areas such as strategy formulation, operations, general management, technology, distribution, sales, and marketing. He has successfully overseen significant initiatives, including large-scale transformations, growth-focused acquisitions, and business alliances, that have led to the expansion of the business into new customer segments and geography.
Smith's expertise lies in developing and implementing innovative business solutions that help organisations achieve their strategic objectives. He has a track record of working with companies across a range of industries, including technology, healthcare, financial services, and consumer goods.
His expertise in digital transformation allows him to aid insurance providers in implementing cutting-edge technologies such as Conversational AI and leveraging their data to derive valuable insights. His reputation stems from his ability to steer his clients with the most effective industry practices, leading them toward the optimisation of their digital strategies.
As Vice President of IT, Smith will be responsible for leading our IT department and overseeing the development and implementation of innovative technology solutions. He will work closely with our team to ensure that our systems and processes are efficient, reliable, and secure.
Prior to joining Mandarin Re, Smith served as the Vice President and Senior Partner at IBM Consulting, where he provided strategy and technology-enabled transformation services to leading insurance carriers such as GEICO, Chubb, AIG, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford, Travelers, Aflac, MetLife, Marsh, State Farm, and others. He was also the North America Head of Insurtech Ventures Practice, evaluating future innovations in insurance, partnerships, and potential acquisitions.
Smith has also held leadership roles at several other consulting firms, collaborating with both Fortune 500 companies and startups. He is a respected thought leader in the IT industry and has been a guest speaker at numerous industry events, where he has shared his insights on topics such as digital transformation, customer experience, and organisational change.
Smith holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago.
