REDZAL MOHAMAD has more than 17 years in insurance and reinsurance industry from both local and international companies. Throughout his experience in various department such as Claims, Retrocession, Underwriting – Facultative and Business Analyst, his role now is to be responsible in assisting the business development as well as supporting the company’s underwriting team. 

He graduated with an Honour Degree in Physics from University Science Malaysia. He also holds a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from University Malaysia Sabah. In 2010, he has completed his professional qualification in Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) under the Malaysian Re’s scholarship programme.

  • Support specific Synergy system related project work directly associated with Underwriting Operation (business reports analysis and design – gather user requirements; business reports generation – coordinate with the IT the distribution and control.

  • Analyse and review underwriting operational improvement.

  • Assist with/perform function of Underwriting Operations including analysis, review and streamlining of filing system; analysis of data quality process; assist in management of key department reports including Exceptions reporting tools, preparing monthly underwriting report for facultative and treaty business; prepare adhoc reports as and when required by underwriters; revise and analyse the underwriting portfolio.

  • Verify data entry and quality control.

  • Ensure completeness of underwriting files and flag gaps to the underwriters.

  • Run reports from Business Objects reporting tools.

  • Deal with clients efficiently and independently, to appoint external Specialists such as Surveyors or Solicitors where necessary, to set up reserves and assist in the process of claims, to conclude liability and recommend settlements up to the delegated level of authority, and to deal with recovery aspects as appropriate, for all line of business and both facultative and treaty.

  • Performed underwriting assessment for both conventional and retakaful risks for facultative business. Assessment of any new and renewal risks offer from cedants and brokers - Malaysia/overseas

  • Liaising with cedants/broker to obtain relevant underwriting information or documents.

  • Propose to the Vice President/Underwriter on declinature/acceptance of a particular risks based on the terms afforded.

  • Treaty Protections (Retrocession)– to prepare underwriting information for flag broker, to send placements and confirmation order to all the brokers.

  • To maintain and monitor a good filing system for Claims and Retrocession Department Monitoring all claims including Facultative and Treaty for approval and payment Monitoring and update claims reserve adequately.

  • Monitoring and update the large losses claims (claims affecting Company's Protection).

  • Monitoring claims statistical information including time lag report for claims (cash calls) settlements.

  • Monitoring Reinsurance Claims for approval by the Senior Management on both Facultative and Treaties.

  • Monitoring and Controlling Large Losses Claims for Recovery Purposes – local Malaysian and overseas reinsurers.

  • Monitoring and updating the Claims Register.

  • Monitoring Claims Input Reserve.
